We welcome you to attend the Society of Michigan EMS Instructors Coordinators 60th Professional Development Conference, The Impact of Involvement , which will be held March 12 - 15, 2009 at the Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City Michigan.
Sessions at this conference will focus on progress for EMS Education and involving Instructors in that progress through involvement in planning.

Keynote Speakers Spring 2009... We are pleased to announce that , Bob Page, Dr. William Fales, Orlando Blanco and Phil Dickison will be the keynote speakers at our 60th Professional Development Conference.
In addition to the below keynote speakers, we will have a number of local and regional speakers who will present on a wide variety of topics. These speakers are from Michigan and surrounding States and help us to provide the most up to date information for conference attendees.
Bob Page is an active Primary Paramedic Instructor. Bob has international speaking experience and is known for his high energy, animated, innovative and often humorous approach to EMS Education. He developed the Multi-Lead Medics 12 Lead ECG program which he has presented around the Country. He is also known for his intriguing, thought provoking and envelope pushing sessions “ EMS from Death’s Perspective” and “What’s up with this?”
William D. Fales, MD, FACEP, is an Associate Professor and Director of Prehospital care at the Michigan State University Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies (MSU/KCMS). He is also the Medical Director for the Kalamazoo County Medical Control Authority. A former paramedic and full-time EMS instructor, Dr. Fales is the Co-Director of the MSUI/KCMS Patient Simulation Lab. His extensive experience in pre-hospital care began over twenty years ago as a paramedic and firefighter. He now focuses his efforts on the EMS education of physicians, pre-hospital providers and the public. Dr. Fales has been honored by the State of Michigan for his contributions to highway safety. He has instructed hundreds of hours of medical simulation involving EMS personnel, medical students, resident physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Phil Dickison is the Director of Health Professions Testing at Elsevier Review & Testing and former Associate Director of the NREMT. He has worked in the health professions certification industry for more than 20 years developing, validating and maintaining items banks used for certification of emergency medical service professionals.
Orlando Blanco is an experienced litigator with more than twenty years of trial experience. His current practice focuses on representing specialty insurers, policyholders and self-insured clients, including paramedic and ambulance liability defense. He has been a lecturer at a variety of conferences and conventions including many EMS conferences both at the state and national Levels. Mr. Blanco is admitted to practice in Michigan and Florida.

We offer pre-conference and general sessions featuring national and local speakers presenting the latest trends and ideas for EMS education. Conference Center Our Spring 2009 conference will be held at the Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City Michigan.
